Being green and frugal
I thought I would hit this blog post off on being green and frugal, since I would like to write about these topics plus the normal personal life dribble and new computer programs I find (saying that I have found a new one I would like to review but I will do that Saturday or something).
Being green is looking after the environment, you know recycling, turning off lights when your not in the room, using environment friendly product and growing your own food (that links in with being frugal too), and being frugal is all about living on the basics and not over spending.

2010 Goals
So far I have come up with,
+ tone up (which I have started third day in the row I have used the running machine and done my 50 sit ups, I am going to increase the time and the amount slowly, like once a week).
+ Save £2,000 in our rainy day savings (£175 so far)
+ Save £2,000 for my car fund and lessons (£350 so far)
+ Save £900 for the summer (nothing so far).
+ Learn to drive
+ Pass 2nd year of university
+ Learn Java
The savings are need to be done by the June 2010, so 6 months, I have worked out we can do it :)
That's about it, I will try and keep updated about the goals every month, I have written on our whiteboard, where we are in the savings so the husband knows :)
What are yours?

Merry Christmas
It was a great day, in the morning the husband and me opened our presents to each other I did quite well :) I got a magazine subscription to Web User which I love :) yay! Loads of sweeties and chocolate, plus DVDs.
Then I went to my mums and he went to his (he goes alone as his gran has alzheimer and is blind, so she gets very confused), I opened presents at my rents with my brothers got in total £220 which is all going into my car fund. Plus I still have some money left over from ebay and bits so I am buying myself some DVDs in the sale and some make up :)
Husband came over at 6pm, my grandparents were there and we all have a giggle, husband opened his presents from my family and we got home at 8pm, watched You, Me & Dupree and went to bed at 2am.
Here are some lovely photos

My mum and younger brother

It's boxing day now, I am currently working on more java and looking at the sales, the husband is creating a wicked dance track, we are off to my grandparents later for boxing day dinner plus my uncle and auntie will be there, yay!
Hope you all had fab day yesterday :)

Christmas Games
Track Santa
http://www.noradsanta.org/en/index.html
This one I have is an old one but still a good one, not a game but gives you the access to track Santa on google earth, it is not up and running at the moment due to it not being Christmas Eve, but I thought this would be good for anyone who has kids or anyone who wants to see if Santa is coming near them ;)
Kristmas Kombat
http://www.flash-game.net/game/2209/christmas-combat.html
This game is a two player game, one of you takes over the a,s,w,d keys and the other takes over the arrow one, and the point of the game is a battle to the death. I liked the practise section as I am not very good at video games even more flash one. It is a little violent, and a bit repetitive but it is a good game to play if you are bored.
I am a ninja SNOWMAN!
I lost to the husband!
Light Up The Christmas Tree
http://www.multigames.com/game/Light_Up_the_Christmas_Tree_Puzzle-oNbDUEq1
Light up the Christmas tree by connecting all the wires and light bulbs to the electrical source. You can rotate the wires and the bulbs by clicking them.I really suck at this game, it seem to me that only some of the wires are a certain length so even if you rotate it over and over again it still does not reach which I found so annoying.
I only got up to here and then failed :( Did you manage to connect them all?
Santa Racers
This is a fun game, you choose a Santa, the controls are up, left and right, up for speed, and you race another Santa around a track for five laps, sounds easy right? It is not the controls are crazy and sometimes the reindeer gets stuck under Santa and then you go the wrong way, to conclude I suck..
Okay if I find any more I will post :) Enjoy, and Merry Christmas but I am sure I'll post before then :)

Digsby
I have decided to start reviewing some of the internet products I use and find really helpful :)
(Note, I am not paid for these)

So today I am doing digsby which is a program which is only available on PCs right now but will be released on MACs and Linux in the future, basically the idea is to have all your emails, instant messager and any social networks you belong to in one place. It is really easy to use all you do is download it and then set up an account with them.
This is my account, your user name has nothing to do with your social networks so call it whatever you want, also you have the option for it to load when your computer is turned on, I personally don't do this just because it slows down the how turning on process unless you have windows 7 which I have yet to upgrade to because I am scared of losing all my documents and pictures plus all the "free" programs I have on this machine.
Once it loads up, you add your accounts by going to digsby then to my account and enter all your account information, like I have here:
Instant messager accounts you have a choice of facebook, msn, yahoo, aim, googletalk, myspace, ICQ & jabber, I only have two but I should set up the others. Handy tip my friend gave me on the main screen you can drag and drop the same contact say you have a friend on facebook, msn and aim, you can join them all together so if they sign on facebook then aim, your conversation still gets carried across.
E-mail accounts you can choose from are gmail, yahoo mail, hotmail, AOL, and even better your own email accounts you have set up via your websites, you know admin@digital-damita.net, always a good thing because I never set these up and this would help me to keep on track of everything.
Social networks, twitter, facebook, myspace and linkin (don't know what linkin is but will have to look into it). I like having twitter on here as my twitter feed that is suppose to be on my firefox has disappeared and won't come back!
Okay so after you have filled all your information in, you have all the icons at the bottom of your screen like so, when you click on one you can see what the new notification is.
You see according to digsby I have an email received via gmail, you click on the e-mail icon and it shows you this:
You can then read it which opens up your internet browser or you can delete it there and then. Same goes for twitter which tells me I have 23 new twitters recieved also the tweets come up in the corner of your screen, which you can either reply to or just ignore and they will disappear and up date the twitter icon to say how many you have now.
Once it pops up you can reply to that message or simply re-tweet it if it is interesting :)
If you double click on the digsby icon, you will get all the instant messager contacts which you can talk to from all the different accounts. Another cool thing about digsby is you can have a widget on your website which is linked to digsby and people can talk to you via the widget on your website, for example, my friend has one on his website it looks like this:
He's not on-line at the moment but we have tested it to see if it works :)
That's about it really, easy to use and all the applications in one place, makes my life easier, I would like them to add an RSS feed maybe as well and flickr to the social network bit and maybe a forum you post at regularly but I am unsure how that would work unless you went by the forum's RSS.

Snow!
So we have a snow day today not as bad as back in February this year - Snow, snow and more snow & Britain set for heavy snowstorms. But it was quite impressive, husband cannot get into work as the trains are all delayed and well I was off anyway due to Christmas holidays...
Other things happening this week our bathroom has started to be tiled and updated which is very exciting and it will be nice to have a shower at last and tiles on the wall! Oh and made 30 reindeer shortbread biscuits for the husbands team at work, what you think? I had to fix some of them as they broke in half with icing which was interesting, I think it worked.

Christmas Holidays!
Started moving my bedroom around, I don't know if I posted about moving the office and living room around (I should post pictures once I have finished it), we moved a armchair downstairs to the living room to make it more of a living room so we can now seat 4 people down here :) And the office I got rid of the horrible dark wooden display unit (had to put 120 lead marvel figures in the loft and 100 other marvel figures bendy ones up to the loft in boxes) and moved a wooden bookcase upstairs. It looks lovely :)
The bedroom I am trying to get rid of all the rubbish and I now wait for it OPEN MY WARDROBE!! First time in about a year, I didn't know I had these clothes or shoes, ha ha! Got to finish it today, I am getting a dressing table, I am so excited.
Also yesterday I went with my mum and stepdad to buy some floor tiles for my bathroom got 4 square meters for only 15 quid in chocolate brown, I am trying to decide what colour wall tiles to have with the white ones I am having so like a dash of colour somewhere in there.
Other great news, my beloved husband got a promotion, I am so proud of him, also extra money a month not a lot but it is for us when we are poor :)
Still no Christmas tree up but we are doing it tomorrow, I am so excited about Christmas?!!? Oh and my brother is home for Christmas and we had a great family dinner on Tuesday evening :)
I'm off to finish this bedroom :) Also mini nova is dead now any one know any good free torrents sites?

Drained
In other news (good that is) I managed to get a 65% for my algorithms assignment and even bigger shocked I got 78% for my last database assignment, that puts me in a 2:1 or 1:1 (so a first or a second hons degree) which is what I have been trying to work for this term, trying to get my marks up to 60% so far it hasn't gone that well I have passed my assignments (40%) but not the marks I want but oh hum, this term has been a bitch.
Friday night was fab, it was one of my best mates birthday, she is 24! Now as old as me :P
Pictures under the more tag :)

2 weeks to go...
I have some pictures from last weekends show, they are not amazing but better than nothing, it is a real shame that I didn't get any with just me, my dad and brother but oh hum, my brother will be back in two weeks from his first term at uni and I am hoping to go up to Scotland to see my daddy and that side of my family after New Year that reminds me I so need to book my ticket!

Weekend
Had a crappy night sleep last night, went to bed at 11pm, couldn't sleep at 1am my neighbours started having some domestic issues and was shouting, our walls behind the houses are quite thick not thick enough by the looks of things and all we could hear until 4am was shouting, her kids banging and making noise and the sound of breaking things, even my sleeping tablets couldn't put me and my husband asleep... bloody stupid if you asked me so I got to sleep at 5.30am then was suppose to be up at 6.30am but me and the husband decided not to go to work and me to uni as there was no way we would survive a day on an hour sleep for me and no sleep for him..
I am pretty annoyed that I have missed uni again... not a lot I can do about it, I only have three weeks left till the end of term and you don't know how happy I am about this! Year 2 has been a bitch and half..
Oh I got banned from google ad sense not from random spam bots (which seem to have come in their thousands lately! seriously I thought that wordpress was suppose to stop the spam, doesn't seem to be working!!!) clicking on links but due to my content in my weblog according to the e-mail my content and links regarding my sponsored blog posts are mature.. well I am 24 so I will say what is on my mind, oh hum, I think I will just stick to my paid blogging I have never found ads a very good way to make money anyway.
It was great to see my dad on Saturday plus his new soon to be wife (well not new, she has been my unofficial stepmother for 14 years but they are now engaged! I couldn't be happier for them both, it is about time if you ask me!), my brother, his friends and his not girlfriend who was a very sweet girl, I liked his new uni friends! The show was amazing, this is the Erotica show, the fuel girls were they playing fire quite scary and we got great seats to the show in the VIP section thanks to my daddy creating their show guide for the last 11 years. Got lost at Clapham Junction who knew that station had 16 platforms and I nearly missed my connection train home!!!
Since I am off today now, I think I am going to the supermarket, finishing my course work for Thursday and do the six paid blogging I have in my inbox, I am a little bit nervous about doing the socialspark ones as it is the first time, fingers crossed :)

Parties
I'm going up to London on Saturday to see my dad at a London show, he just turned 50! And now is feeling very odd, so me and my brother are travelling the 5 hours between us to go and see him to have lunch to celebrate his 50th with about 20 friends, so it should be good fun minus the 2 hours it is taking me to get up there and the four trains I have to get but it will be worth it.
Next week is hand in date for this ftp project plus another assignment then it is one of my best friends 24th birthday party, I am really looking forward to going as last year I missed as the husband got very ill, so I am there this year!
Okay back to watching Gossip Girl, Blair is such a bitch! Oh and she would be totally horrible to work for if she worked in Business Marketing.

Please term be finish!
Today I did another assignment, still working on my ftp which at uni yesterday decided it did not want to transfer files but today at home it works, so missing two lectures to try and get it to work was a waste of time and effort, damn! Plus I have another assignment due in next Thursday but I am going to work on that Saturday as the husband is working.
Talking about getting pregnant, the husband is so broody at the moment, and we are both ready for children, it's just the fact I am uni for another year and half, so we are waiting until I finish or at least until next Christmas, I am so excited about having our first child, not about the giving birth bit because that just looks scary and painful to me! When the time comes I don't even know how you go about trying for a baby (ha ha yes I know sex :P ) but don't you have to it at the correct time in the month and all that stuff...
Other than that, I am just travelling and trying to find a new phone as mine is dying slowly :(
Just four more weeks until the end of term, yay! Christmas, who wants to Christmas card exchange? I am making mine, don't know if they will be very good but they will have my time and effort in them ;)

ftp on java
So I ordered two books on java for dummies so fingers crossed I'll start from the very beginning again! I have been creating a server and client ftp today for my networks class so far I have my server half set up and it is creating a new file but as I haven't done the client bit it is a blank file but still it is being created!! I am so pleased!!! I am now trying to do my commands so when you type in transfer it starts the transfer and when you type in exit it closes the connection :)
I'm only gonna do the basic of password and file transfer, if I have time I will add more but I have 7 other assignments out at the moment so one thing at a time... what ever I can get credits wise would be lovely and I can make up the rest in the exam, not the best idea but I haven't got time to spend too much time on one thing. This networks assignment is due in about three weeks and I have a program analysis assignment due in on Thursday so I have to start that asap!!!
Other than that I brought a new litter tray with is really high and as a cover to stop cat litter being all over the bathroom floor at the moment it feels like my bathroom is a giant litter tray.... Onion wasn't impressed with the hover and when I picked him up to move him to the other room while I hovered the bathroom he got my wrists now they are sooo painful!
Back to trying to get these commands to work and make some methods might make it easier to read...

Onion and the dried pasta
I am in the process of e-mailing my tutor, student support and my student adviser, regarding how difficult I am finding this term and how I am finding it hard as I am not a strong programmer.
Onion has been very funny lately other than stealing dried pasta and noodles which he eats then throws up (oh joys) but I was in the bathroom telling Arthur not to try and pee behind the bathroom sink and I tapped her on her head lightly Onion ran up to her and did the same, so cute! Also he has learnt fetch with a mouse :) I'm such a proud mummy! Ha ha!
Sorry if there is a lot of paid blogging around I just got a £450 water bill and I think my gas and electric is due this month for the last six months so I need to make some cash asap!
Also I have had the my first mince pie of the year, yay! I love them sooo much!!!

Futurama
I'm in a much better mood now! I have handed it in my assignment even though it isn't complete or working, but the read me file is pretty :P
I am now working onto my networks project which is to create a basic ftp and my program analysis which is well I'm not 100% sure what I am suppose to be doing but I am sure it will be fine :)
Still watching Futurama, and I was watching the out takes and it is weird hearing the voice without the drawings on the screen...looked it up season 6 will be here soon :) yay! I am sooo excited!!!
Fry: Hey Professor can I ask you something about Bender?
Professor: Of course Fry, show me where on this anatomically correct doll where he touched you.
Ha ha, gotta be my favourite line of this film :P
Matcher & Pattern... oh dear it is going to be a long day!
I have been watching furturama this morning since my new DVD movie boxset came the other week, I am so excited :) I love it! Also I heard they are creating a whole new season! Bet that is going to be amazing! So far I have watched the first one but I am going to watch the second one by the end of the day, I just hope that I am watching them in order ha ha!
I'm taking it easy for today as I have been stressed all week well since last Wednesday, so looking forward to Christmas a whole month off I'm sooooo looking forward to the time off.. okay I'd better go and work...

Java
Dear Java, I hate you, do what I tell you to do, stop compiling forever, how is that helpful? Other than crashing my machine and netbeans normally when I haven't saved! DO IT NOW! JUST DO IT!
No love,
Your bored computer student who has spent 6 days going around in circles!

Road works
I managed to get an appointment with my student adviser and went to talk to her as I was getting to the stage where I just wanted to leave uni and get a full-time job, but she did help so I am feeling a little better.
Still no new layout but I have managed to work on bits and bobs of it during the week, hopefully it will be lovely :) Yesterday I spent the whole day on my compliers assignment where I have to write a lexical analyser in java which is a pain in the arse, it's one of those things I know what I want it to do but I just can't make it do it! I think once I have managed to complete it I will put it up on here or try to explain the best way to go about it to save other people the stress.

These are my notes written over and over again!

I am just waiting for the amp to be picked up but there are all these road works up and down my road so I am unsure how to the courier is going to get down my road. Sigh!
Students loans company are still pissing me off as I am awaiting approval for my bursary grant but they have to let my uni know before they will give it to me and I can't seem to get hold of them to ask if they have sent the information across... :(
Other than that nothing really has gone on, but I did get approved for socialspark I am sooo pleased! Okay back to assignment work :)

Annoyed
Saying that I do have loads of idea but can't seem to get the colour schemes right... blah blah blah blah, okay, according my husband my mental block will go but I really hope it is before the hand in date for my programming project :(

I'm alive!
Had a really good birthday, my mum came over, so did Freya and the in laws, I got so many DVDs here is the list of the ones I have received:
Desperate Housewives season 1 and 2
Laguna Beach season 2 and 3
Lipstick Jungle season 1
Buffy season 6 and 7
Cutting It season 2
Tru Calling
Charmed season 1, 2 and 8
Without a Trace season 1 to 4
It Crowd season 3
The hills season 3
Weeds season 3
Futurama Movies
Cashmere Mafia season 1
I LOVE DVDs of TV series so I am so pleased! I have nearly finished my current collection, here is what my collection looked like on Saturday by the end of the week they should of all come so I will have to retake a picture.
I have been watching a new TV Series called Fringe about a secret FBI agency who is run by a black guy who looks like the one who wouldn't talk in Heroes, the main woman is Olivia (my husband really doesn't like her), a crazy scientist called Walter and his estranged son Peter, anyway they run around solving crimes relating to Fringe Science which is like people with power or odd things happening. It is really good, took awhile to get into it but after getting half way through the first series it really picked up. It will have to be one for our DVD collection :P
I don't love it as much as I love Flash Forward made by the same people who did Lost (which is fab as well btw!), I really like the idea, anything sci-fi is right up my street, I blame this on the husband and his addiction to aliens and powers, if you haven't seen Flash Forward I would definitely download it! Or watch it on telly if we are being good ;)
I haven't been at uni for the past two days so I have been trying to study from home which is hard because I have needed a lemsip top up every 4 hours, rubbish, rubbish!
Some pictures of me looking better :) I was feeling down over the weekend looking at old pictures, so put on some make-up and took some photos and decided I am not that bad looking :P Even if I say so myself, I think having boobs helps, ha ha!

Oh and a kitten picture for good measure :)
It's a hard life being a kitten - Onion and Arthur
Favourite songs at the mo:
And one for my best mate - Cheryl Cole - Fight For This Love, I would post it in the post but it won't let me :(
Okay I'm off to make some dinner for the husband.

Birthday Tomorrow!
This was my excitement of the week, putting up my picture frames which contain my wedding photos! They look really cute and they are all in black and white to match my stairs and walls in the hallway :)
Oh and I made a cake, Apple Cake it was yummy :) Husband and my mum ate it all... piggies!
Oh something horrible happened last night, husband and me were watching Flashforward (which is amazing by the way!), and we heard all this noise upstairs in the office, so I sent the husband up to see what the cats were getting into now and Arthur had managed to get herself into one of those paper lamp shades which they had managed to knock down, the wire hoop was stuck around her waist you couldn't get it over her head or legs, she kept making that whimpering noise :( We managed to cut it off with some scissors but still it really scared me I didn't know how we were going to get it off her without hurting her. She is fine today and back to normal :)
I'm 24 tomorrow and I am excited about all my DVDs and surprised presents that my husband and mother in law have got me, I will have to show you all my presents :P) I'm going back to writing the sponsored blogs and ordering Christmas card bits.

Day In The Life
Put at 6am had breakfast, a cup of tea and a fag, left the house at 7.30am instead of 7am because my mother was give me a lift.
Got to uni for 9am, had one lecture and one class in Networks, was a bit worried about my Networks just because in my class I have never used command line, it was a first for me but I think it went well I can load it up, go up and down files and load a java file so all is good for today.
Then next came my three hour gap where I spent most my time playing on command line as you spam people with the wall and look up people with a command called finger (ha ha!), did a bit of work and had lunch while talking to people.
2pm three more lectures, Databases, Compilers and Program Analysis... I am hating program analysis I still do not understand fricking algorithms! Compilers wasn't as bad as I was thought it was going to be, I still was awake at the end of my lecture and understood what was going on!! I have a bit of research to do on my subjects but I'll do that Wednesday.
5pm database class, it was er alright I had already done the worksheet so not much to do.
Left uni at 6pm, got a lift home with my mum, arrived home at 7pm.
Got in husband was ranting about the mess so I cleaned the kitchen, bathroom, hovered, put washing on, made the pack lunches, made tea and had a bath.
8pm I am knacked... good night back up again at 6am... sleepy!!

Brrrr!
I am feeling so tired right now, this week has really worn me out, I think it must have to do with the four hours of traveling a day! But there might be some good news with having my Fridays off fingers crossed for me, it is all up in the air due to trying to find a slot in the timetable that everyone can do.
Tuesday ended well managed to get some studying done and my mum gave me a lift home from uni, on Wednesday it was my day off so more studying and tidying my dirty house, Thursday back to uni it was so hard to get out of bed that morning even more so when I only had an one hour lecture, managed to get to town at a decent time so I could buy some bits and bobs exciting things like my computer magazines and the husbands comics.
Friday, yesterday, studying again, got my lovely rail card which is going to save me about £140 this term, yay! Also I applied for a new scholarship for more money so fingers crossed that my reference person is able to turn it around by Friday or I will miss out
It is my birthday in a week, it is next Sunday, I will be 24, now I feel old! I am looking forward to it as I want all my new DVDs then I can buy some of the ones I am missing
Whoa my fingers are so cold, it is hard to type, I don’t know why it is so cold in this living room and it is warm outside, there is something wrong with my house. To keep warm Onion is sleeping on my belly as I type this while watching E! channel, I’m alone the husband is playing with his new guitar that I brought him.
One film I would really like to see is Couples Retreat has anyone seen it? Is it any good?

Back to uni
At the moment I am revising networks that we did in this lesson so I really know what he is talking about and this will help me enjoy it even more :)
Other than that I haven't be doing anything else other than running my little household, cats are driving me nuts, Kit has decided she needs to meow all the time when we get home to make a point of us not leaving her again for a whole day!! She isn't use to it as I have been at home for the last 3 months... she will get back into the routine by the end of this term I am sure.
Day off tomorrow very excited about it, I am so sleepy! Since I didn't get home till 8pm last night and up again at 6am this morning, oh the joys of 9am lectures, they should be banned!! But I have to start catching up on SQL and my java as well as do the normal bits and bobs.
Okay I'd better go and work, also re-order my sisters birthday present as it didn't turn up the first time around, sigh!

Housewife at work

Oh funny thing happened to me the other day, I have been trying to figure out how to turn the sound up on my speakers so I thought they were rubbish, I go away and the husband found out how to turn them up using a circle thingy onto of the speaker which turns them up LOADS!

Chicken mess!

Monday Morning
This is my last week before I return to uni so I am trying to make the most of it, hence the layout and hopefully a layout in a magazine style on my Rebecca Romijn fansite, fingers crossed I'll get it done! While cruising the internet earlier today and yesterday I found some really nice websites out there as I was looking for layouts that might inspire me :) So here are the ones I found that I really loved and I must add that I looked at about 200 websites in total jumping from one persons blogroll to another. Minus Lavish members because I didn't want my blog looking similar to theirs :)

http://www.domesticvixen.com/ - I was loving the three columns on this one and the colours.

http://www.iheartmyblog.com/ - I just loved the pictures :)

thepioneerwoman.com/ -I have never seen this website before but a very interesting read!

http://amourchaleur.com - So fricking cute! I love all of it!!

http://dooce.com/ - Now everyone must know dooce.com, I use to read it back when I started blogging along with Jenn.nu.

myjapan.co.uk - this is someone's final year degree project but the website is so pretty and it all flows, I read most of it gave me ideas for my own final project next year ;)
There is a few more but I will do them another time, it was really interesting running around all these different blog circles, I am so use to staying within lavish members ones that I forget that there are other sites out there, ha ha!
Other than my interesting internet surfing Onion ate a piece of tin foil, I only know this because he was throwing it up last night and kept throwing up, but he is better today, thank god! I can't afford another vet bill right now, maybe that will teach him not to eat tinfoil he finds out of the bin but knowing him he will do it again.
Okay I off to look for a way to style my comments...
